American-born Donna Leon has lived in Venice, Italy, for more than 30 years and this is where she has set her extremely successful series of books featuring Commissario Guido Brunetti. Famous for her elegant prose and lyrical style, Leon carefully evokes the Venice of contemporary times, while revealing through her language her very strong love for Venice. Brunetti is a man of his time, an intellectual policeman with a strong moral code, who is bound to old Venice through his aristocratic wife and her family. He is a family man with very deep principles. The first book featuring Brunetti, Death in La Fenice, was published in 1992. Other books include: A Question of Belief.
