Rex Stout’s Nero Wolfe is famous for his interest in food and all things to do with his stomach. There’s even a Nero Wolfe Cookbook (Rex Stout; 1987), made up of recipes mentioned in Rex Stout’s novels.
In this clip from the first episode of the 2001–2 TV adaptation, Nero and Fritz debate the use of juniper berries in a venison dish. ‘Would you turn the main course into a dessert?‘ Nero mutters… Now, there’s a question.
Maury Chaykin stars as Nero;
Colin Fry as Fritz; and,
Timothy Hutton as Archie (although for me, he will always be Conrad in the extraordinary film Ordinary People (1980) and gorgeous Jim Hutton’s son)
